ROOMS

BUMBLE BEES (0 - 2 Year Old's)

Long-lasting benefits

In the Bumblebee room, there is a hive of activity which helps to develop a child’s curiosity, building imagination and promoting early speech. We use a variety of loose parts, these encourage a child to explore the different shapes, feel and smell. We also love sensory play as this enables the children to explore and experiment with a wide range of textures e.g. paint, water, spaghetti, custard – we have great fun but do love to get very messy too!

Our Bumblebee room has a soft, friendly, home from home atmosphere where children can be children. Because of this relaxed approach children are free to develop and shine in their prime areas of learning at their own pace. We also use baby sign language (Makaton) which allows children to communicate with us before they can talk e.g. drink, food, more, milk whilst also using it within lots of nursery rhymes.

BUMBLE BEES - 0 - 2

Long-lasting benefits

Research shows that providing your children with a positive preschool program has beneficial long-term effects on their long-term education. Experts have found that children who attend high quality preschool programs have better vocabularies and more advanced literacy and maths skills than children who don’t.

In addition, children in preschool programs have advanced social skills and are more adaptable to changes and new situations.

Our dedicated practitioners are ready to provide the next stage for your child. Structured activities are available whilst also allowing the children the opportunity to express themselves and their choices. From toilet training to learning to share and play together, our staff team are ready to support your child with their next steps.

HONEY BEES (2 - 3 Year Old's)

Foundation for education

Within the honeybees room we use a wide range of loose parts and open ended resources whilst preserving the curiosity approach. This allows children to explore and develop using their imagination throughout all areas. Activities are often initiated by the children, with the skills of the staff then supporting and encouraging the children to progress whilst following their own interests. The children have free access to all the resources throughout the room e.g. arts & crafts, sand & water play etc. and are free to choose where and what they play with.

In order to encourage children to listen, take turns & share stories we have 2 circle times a day this enables us to focus on different shapes, colours, numbers and the letter of the week. We also enjoy singing and learning new Makaton signs too.

HONEY BEES - 2 - 3

Foundation for education

For many children, this age group is the foundation of their education. It is a time for both play and learning, two facets in which there is a great deal of overlap. It is a big step for children, and a huge decision for many parents. Consider that the quality of education you choose for your children at this stage in their development has great relevance in the long run.

Our room focuses on developing your children’s skills so that they approach school with confidence, excitement and eagerness.

BEE HIVE (3 - 5 Year Old's)

Seasonal fun for your kids

Beehive (preschool) is highly equipped with curiosity and loose parts equipment, allowing the children to explore and develop their skills to give them a platform into school. By developing a child’s creativity and imagination through the enriched open ended resources. The activities are predominantly child led with the support and encouragement of experienced practitioners.

We have lots of different areas that the children are free to choose from, including deconstruction role play – this enables and promotes children’s creativity and peer interaction skills. We like to make learning fun, and often the children don’t realise they’re learning! We develop writing skills through the strengthening of pivotal arm movements via the activities of gross motor mark making in all areas, this maybe within a sandpit, painting, drawing etc as well as with a pen or pencil. Within circle times we develop mathematical skills, phonics, turn taking, singing and concentrations skills.

The children are encouraged to be as independent as possible – they can use the water machine to access their own cups to freely get a drink whenever they choose. The toilets are joined onto beehive, allowing the children to go as and when needed, without having to leave the room. There is also a free flow beehive garden where the children can choose whether they want to play inside or outside.

Seasonal fun for your kids

Our qualified teacher ensures that all of the children are provided with an array of opportunities whilst at nursery. School readiness is key and we do this by promoting self-confidence and positive relationships within the nursery. Many of our children also attend Romiley Primary School Nursery and we provide a collection and drop off service at the school during lunch time. Please contact us for further information about this.

OUTDOOR PLAY

We are very lucky that we have a large outdoor area that is covered, so come rain or shine all children can play out. We do also have wet suits and wellies too for the children to play in the puddles and explore the worms in the mud! The mud kitchen and water wall allow for lots of opportunity for children to interact and use their imagination. The climbing frame enables children to develop more gross and motor skills whilst having lots of fun!

The babies have a separate outside area where they are free to explore and crawl within the sandpit, maze and dinosaur garden! The slide is always a big hit where they children learn to safely climb and manoeuvre the tiny steps before enjoying the very short journey down.
